Giri Ganga is one of the less explored places in Himachal Pradesh. Although, it is only 85 kms from Shimla, this beautiful place is not popular among travelers and tourists. One can reach the temple dedicated to Goddess Durga in their cars by driving on a single unpaved road or by trekking. The 6 km trek is a moderate one going through dense deodar and pine forest. There is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva as well at Giri Ganga. According to locals, the temple complex was built by the Pandavas during their exile period. Large number of local people comes to worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Durga every year during Shivaratri and Navratri.
The Kuppar Bugyal about 3 kms from Giri Ganga is a beautiful meadow that offers panoramic views. This place is perfect to relax and sit in peace while admiring the Himalayan ranges.
